In about 2 weeks time I'll be here:
At the Global Venture Lab - V2C Forum event in Jyväskylä.
(takes place 23-24 March)
Here's some info about GVL directly from their site:
"Global Venture Lab is a university based business creation platform dedicated to problems worth solving. GVL is empowered by globally connected faculty, students, and alumni of business competence.
The first GVL kickoff took place in the USA, at UC Berkeley, on November 21, 2008, followed by India and IIT Kharagpur, on January 8. The GVL kickoff in Finland, at JYU, on March 23, 2009, marks the birth of the GVL Network."
Here's a link to a PDF with the full 2 day program in it.
The event is free. If you are around, come say hi!
Hi. My name is Taneli Tikka. This is where I preach what I practice. I'm a
serial entrepreneur and a startup activist of sorts. People usually know me
from my past and present consumer Internet service projects: IRC-Galleria,
Dopplr, Muxlim, StarDoll, RunToShop, Vakuutuskone.com, and a bunch of other stuff. My
"proper" bio is behind this link. Glad to see you here, thanks for browsing
around.

got any hints for a startup wannabe? I created this opinion service (http://www.opinaattori.net/) and in general the feedback of it is very good, and the percentage of active users from all visitors is very high, but being alone in this project the job of getting the word out to enough many people seems very challenging.
Anyways, if you have any hints or even can point to people who might have any interest in collaborating in projects like this, i'd appriciate that very much.

You are probably facing the same hurdle as many starting web services: how to get the users in there? Consider ways to get maximum spread and reach for your stuff. Can you take parts of it to other services? cross-link? get noticed? get people to tell stories? word of mouth? etc. Check my blog entry on startup marketing for some tips.
Also, as you say there, additional people on the operational team are required and will work wonders ;) Show up in one of the startup gatherings/meetings, and have a chat with the people there. You might find a few potential team members.
Thanks for the reply. I have
Tue, 2009-03-17 20:02 — JussiR (not verified)Thanks for the reply. I have been planning on creating a small facebook app to support the main app, but for now i think it's all about marketing and possibly finding some new team members.
I read your post about startup marketing, good tips. I really should study more about SEM (though it seems to be getting much harder with the rel="nofollow" attributes everywhere - which, of course is a good thing in general, but makes the life much harder for new websites wanting to get any google action).
And yea, attending startup gatherings seems to be a must. Too bad i missed the last ArcticEvening in Helsinki, but at least there's BarCamp coming in next month.
